The building was constructed as an elite men's club for the owners of the mansions.
Tennis made it debut here in the United States. This is one of the lawn courts with the club house at the end. There are four courts which are still used today.

The owners of the mansions open their summer homes for continuous parties for six to eight weeks each summer.
We took the "Behind the Scenes" tour at the Elms.
This is the servants' entrance so the servants would not be seen by the many guests.
Behind this structure is the servants' doorway to the laundry room.
If you looked the other way the walk would lead to the extra guest houses.
The servants changed all of the linens everyday! They washed and ironed the sheets and towels.
